GUILLAUME CHAPRON'S RESEARCH

Since 2007, I'm Assistant Professor at the Grimsö Wildlife Research Station, Department of Ecology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. I did my Ph.D. in France at the University Pierre & Marie Curie in Paris. My research focuses on carnivore quantitative ecology applied to conservation, with special emphasis on modelling.

I'm particularly interested in developing population models to design more efficient conservation and management strategies for large carnivores. I use different approaches, from simple deterministic models to complex hierarchical state-space models.

Issues I've been working with include brown bear reintroduction in France, tiger conservation (in particular the effect of poaching on Amur tiger) and wolf management in France and Sweden. Recently I have been using artificial intelligence with my wolf simulation models. This project requires an impressive computational power and you can learn more about it on Apple education website.
