What is the Knowledge Monitor?
This is a collection of 4 webpages (conservation, ecology, zoology and more) to allow researchers in ecology to easily keep aware of new papers published in scientific journals. It is intended mainly for people working with carnivores, but hopefully many other people will find it useful! You probably need to have a fast internet connection to seamlessly browse these pages, since they can be long to display.
How is it done?
No, I'm not updating these webpages every hour! Behind these pages, runs a script called MagpieRSS that fetches every hour table of content RSS feeds provided by journal publishers and display them in html code. Between hourly updates the pages call cached versions to speed up download time. If you get an error for a journal try again later (it could be the distant RSS feed is down), if this persists, email me.

How can I use it?
The Knowledge Monitor is permanently updated (every hour in fact), so as soon as a new paper appears on a journal home page, it will be displayed here and remains here for one month.
My favourite journal is missing, what do I do?
Just suggest me the journal name and if it is focused on ecology, I will include it, probably in the "MORE" section rather than in the other ones, which are reserved for the most useful journals to carnivore people.
Please note that many journals like Ecological Applications or Journal of Wildlife Management cannot be included here because they do not have a RSS feed or their feed is not a standard one! |
